Little Green Allotments is a place where the general public can visit the allotments to walk round and see all our magnificent plots gaining information from all members and maybe even going home with some in season fruit and veg. Anyone who visits can get not just an idea of how to grow their own food, but also experience local flora and fauna. It boasts a whole array of learning opportunities for people of all ages:

  • Panoramic view of lagan valley, dromara hills, mourne mountain ranges & lough neagh & local landmarks.
  • Annually returning nesting british swallows who spend their winter in south africa traveling through france down to spain through morocco & across the sahara returning to little green every year to come to nest and rear their young, this is always the first signs of the summer at little green and the swallows get a very heartwarming welcome
  • An abundance of birds: blue tits, sparrows, robins, willy wag tail, blackbird, bullfinch, house sparrow, and many more
  • There is also magnificent birds of prey to be observed: eagle, buzzard to name but a few
  • A vast pasture of seasonal meadow: wild garlic, blue bells, snow drops, dog daisy, wild orchid, yellow rattle tail, bright eye, fox gloves, adders tongue & much much more
  • A whole array of insect & wildlife species: bee, honey bee, moths, butterflies, crickets, beetles, frogs, badger, rabbit, hare, squirrel,
  • Elizabeh janes woodland, a juvenile wodland of just 4 years old already with lots of trees to identify: oak, ash, willow, sycamore, scotch pine, wild pear, wild cherry, crab apple, elder flower including wild roses & much more
  • Picnicking area on the 7 acre site as well as resting area for touring caravans with members room including kitchenette facilities, toilets cast iron stove, traditional irish fire and toilets,
