Royal Hillsborough Farmers’ Market returns to The Dark Walk and Hillsborough Fort on Saturday 27th May from 10am-3pm. We invite you to come and experience the best of local grown produce, artisanal food and unique crafts.

This market is part of the Lisburn & Castlereagh Coronation celebrations and will have a festival vibe with brass bands playing in the Fort, local acoustic musicians on The Dark Walk, children’s crafts, face painting, balloon modelling and street theatre with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

With 50 traders lining up on The Dark Walk artisanal food stalls, local art and craft it is sure to make for a really lovely day out. 

Artisan food producers at the market will include Northern Irish reared farm-to-market grass fed beef, pork and poultry including heritage breeds such as Shorthorn from The Curious Farmer and Angus beef, Berkshire pork and pasture raised heritage chicken from Seaview Farms. Local fishmonger, Something Fishy will be along too with a wide range of freshly caught fish and seafood. Locally grown, seasonal vegetables, free range eggs and yoghurt are all available from our farmers meaning the phrase ‘know your farmer’ is alive and well!  

Local bakers Round House Bakery and Kin & Folk will also be in residence as well as gluten free luxury brownie specialist, Gold & Browne’s ensuring that there is a decadent treat for everyone. There will be cheesemakers and cheesemongers, mezze and chutneys to buy from - perfect for a bank holiday weekend picnic.

Royal Hillsborough Farmers’ Market is also a great place to find local art and unique crafts created by talented artisans with a curated collection of stalls to broaden the offering and interest at the market. So whether you're looking for handmade jewellery, a painting or print created and inspired by a local artist, or a beautifully handmade accessory which is made with sustainability at its heart, you'll find it all here. With so many different vendors selling their wares, you are sure to find something that catches your eye.

Treat yourself or find the perfect gift with certified organic skincare products from Mrs R’ganics, a quirky but wholly wholesome soaps and shampoos bars from Bathe Botanicals. We also welcome Franchine Young Ireland skincare to the market for the first time. 

In addition to the fantastic selection of food and crafts on offer, there will also be plenty of activities for children to enjoy. Children can look forward to street theatre performances, craft activities, face painting and balloon modelling.

But the Royal Hillsborough Farmers’ Market isn't the only reason to make a day trip to this picturesque town. There are historic walks taking in Hillsborough Church and Hillsborough Fort and you can also take in the sculpture trail around Hillsborough Forest. You can even stop off at the adventure play park with the kids.

Royal Hillsborough village boasts an eclectic mix of independent shops and eateries meaning you can really make it a lovely day out. 

The Julie Elliot boutique is a must-visit with those in the know with its carefully curated selection of clothing and accessories. in klöver features a beautifully curated collection of art and crafts from artists and makers across Northern Ireland and beyond. Twigs & Twine has its own distinctive style of flowers, gifts and cards on Lisburn St in the heart of Royal Hillsborough village.

Foodies won't want to miss out on some of the new culinary attractions in Hillsborough either. Arthur’s Boutique Hotel and Coffee Shop is perfect for those looking for a luxurious overnight stay or just a quick coffee break. You’ll be spoilt for choice for cafes too with Karibu Coffee, Owl & Pussycat and Mimi’s serving speciality coffee, while Keane’s Deli creates a range of signature salads, freshly made gourmet sandwiches and sausage rolls to take away, all made using locally sourced ingredients.

Not forgetting the gastropubs that are renowned in the village - a name check is all they need from The Parson’s Nose on Lisburn St to The Plough Inn & Vintage Rooms and The Hillside on the Main Street. 

You can also indulge in some freshly baked breads, cakes, traybakes and savoury goods from the town’s new bakeries, Kin & Folk, Tori’s Coffee Bakes & Cakes and the Round House Bakery.
