European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) is the annual celebration of local architecture, history and culture. This year the European wide theme for 2025 is "Architectural Heritage: Past Structure, Future Connections".
On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September 2025, Lisburn & Castlereagh welcomes visitors to step back in time and celebrate the rich culture, heritage and traditions during this year's European Heritage Open Days!

Ulster Aviation Society
Building on the record-breaking 7000 visitors during EHOD 2024, probably the largest EHOD attraction within NI - the Ulster Aviation Society are again giving the public free access to the amazing pair of authentic Second World War hangars and their growing heritage aircraft & vehicle collection, raising awareness of the site's cultural significance and heritage, along with its educational benefit across the community.

Step into the past of the Lagan Canal at Navigation House Heritage Day, with talks and family fun.

R-Space Gallery
Join R-Space gallery for this heritage double bill! History author and guide John Bradbury will lead a tour of our listed building.

Ballance House
Take a self-guided tour of the restored Victorian Parlour and 'The Ulster New Zealand Story' Exhibition with our knowledgeable guides on hand. The Ballance House showcases the many special connections between Northern Ireland and New Zealand and works to develop cultural links and interchange between the two countries.

Hillsborough Quaker's Meeting House
This typical 19th century Quaker Meeting House retains a unique character and atmosphere. It has its own garden and, behind the building, a large burial ground. The meeting house has been fully restored for use as a place of worship and as a wider community facility.
