About
BELLEVILLE
Manouche is a group of musicians that shares and promotes Gypsy Jazz. Their band, Belleville, is the quartet of Mateusz Chmielewski, Niall Lynch, Bill Johnston and Nicolas Deschatrettes. Taking influences from the musicians’ backgrounds in jazz, blues, rock, country and French popular music, their style is unique.
Strongly inspired by American swing, and traditionally played on string instruments, Gypsy Jazz, or Jazz Manouche, which originated in France in the 1930s with Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, has seen an international revival in recent years.
