About
In the shape of a sphere, this nature inspired sculpture reflects being reborn as it represents the material cycle, the lifecycle, the finishing and the renewing. A pile of wood collected and sawn from the trunks of trees at the end of their life are brought back to life in the form of this sculpture. They are placed in the surroundings, to underline the principle of rebirth of the project much like the phoenix that was reborn from its ashes.
THE ARTIST: Sylvain Restori draws inspiration for his work from its context. Everything from the specific place, the duration it will take to complete, the climate, the season, the social environment, the people who work on the project and the material.
Sylvain continues to be influenced by his upbringing. His early life was spent on a farm where he was surrounded by nature helping him understand the circle of life. The physical dimension, the link between the body and the effort are ideas that he brings to his work. The context is also a really strong inspiration, because of the contextual reflexion that defines the topic.
