About

The building is approximately 300 years old and was a market house in the early days, close examination of the front of the building will display archways which permitted horses and carts to enter and off load or collect their goods.

There are records and evidence of a weigh bridge having been at the side of the building.

In the past the hall has also been used as a cinema, unemployment office, local magistrates court and a focal point for dances or other social activities.

Local free masons bought the premises around 1920 and Dromara Masonic lodge has been in existence since 1921.
