About

The Hinch Distillery and Visitor Centre is located on the Killaney Estate, in the heart of beautiful County Down countryside just north of Ballynahinch and south of the city of Belfast.

Visitors to Hinch have the opportunity to see learn about our distilling traditions on our guided tours.  From the earliest stages of the building of the distillery everything has been designed not only to produce world class whiskey and gin, but also to provide visitors an up-close view of the whole process.  Upon arrival you will be met by one of our professionally trained tour guides.  Your guide will take you on a fun, informative and hands-on journey starting in our beautiful Ingredients Room, then to our impressive Mash House, Still House and Spectrum Room.  Finally you will be invited to relax in one of our tasting rooms where you will have a chance to sample some of our wonderful whiskeys which are inspired by the distilling traditions and skills exchanged over the centuries during the ebb and flow of Gaelic peoples across the Irish Sea.  You will gain an appreciation for the skills and craftsmanship required to make world renowned Irish whiskey and of course have an opportunity to ask questions.  There are two tasting tours to choose from lasting approximately one hour each.

Of course, Hinch Distillery is also renowned for producing the multi-award winning Ninth Wave Irish Gin, which is inspired by our love of Irish mythology, its links to the sea and the role it has played throughout the history of our country.  We have designed a unique experience for gin enthusiasts.  Not only do you get the opportunity to see and learn how gin is produced, the importance of the recipe development, botanical ingredients, the distilling process and a tasting, but you will also get the chance to make your own personalised gin to take home with you.  The gin school evening experience lasts approximately ninety minutes.  Having made your own gin masterpiece you can order additional bottles which will be produced to your specific recipe, bottled with a personalised label and which you can arrange to collect or have delivered at a later date.

Winner of Best Tourism Experience (Large) at Tourism Northern Ireland's Giant Spirit Awards 2022.
