24a Castle Street, Lisburn, County Antrim, BT27 4XD
Lisburn Cathedral EHOD 2025

About

Cathedral has strong links to the arrival of the Huguenots in the area and the associated development of the linen industry. There are memorials associated with the American War of Independence, the Siege of Derry, the 1641 Rebellion, the 1798 United Irishmen and the role of Henry Monroe and the 1920 murder of RIC Inspector Oswald Swanzy. There are also memorials to Charles Curtis Craig, brother of the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland and to those from the parish who served in the 2 World Wars. The building dates from the 1720s' and is the third on the site, the original dating from 1623. It was awarded Cathedral status by King Charles II in 1663.

Booking not required on 13 September. Visits on other dates are available by appointment
