About

Mayor’s Carnival Parade & Family Fun Day

Make sure Saturday 9th May 2026 is marked in your calendar, as the Mayor’s Carnival Parade & Family Fun Day takes over the city.

Under the banner ‘A City that Sees Everyone!’ this vibrant celebration of our community invites everyone to feel seen and celebrated. It is the perfect weekend outing for all ages, all while supporting the Mayor’s chosen charity, Action Cancer.

A kaleidoscope of colour

The spectacle begins at 1.00pm as the carnival parade weaves its way from ISLAND Arts Centre through the heart of the city. Attendees can expect a theatrical wonderland of carnival floats and a kaleidoscope of colour.

The air will be buzzing with the infectious energy of live samba rhythms as local schools, community groups and professional performers showcase their incredible costumes and choreography.

It is a joyful display of togetherness, highlighting the creativity and spirit that makes our city so unique.

Family fun at Wallace Park

The festivities begin in Wallace Park from 12noon until 5.00pm, offering a packed afternoon for families. From fun fair to farm animals, live music on stage and a host of your favourite characters, there is something to keep everyone entertained.

Visitors can also stop by the Sustainability Village, a dedicated space where you can pick up practical, eco-friendly tips and discover how we can all work together to protect this beautiful place we call home for generations to come.

To plan your day, check out the full parade route and event details on the ISLAND Arts Centre’s social media pages or visit www.islandartscentre.com.
