Tourism Northern Ireland - Latest Advice for Businesses
Read MoreHillsborough Farmers Market is back once again on Saturday 29th June with the second in the series of summer markets for 2019. From 10am to 3pm the village becomes a foodie hotspot with over 35 producers of food and crafts setting up shop on the Dark Walk at Hillsborough Fort.
As always, you’ll find local, seasonal, artisan and craft producers at the market with a line-up of seasonal vegetables, speciality meats, free-range eggs and other artisanal produce that includes cheeses, breads, cakes, chutneys, jams, charcuterie and confectionery. You’ll also find a colourful selection of locally grown herbaceous perennial plants and locally made artisan crafts. We even have Twisted Fish healthy treats for the family dog, if they’re on their best behaviour of course! (Yes, it is a dog friendly market – we just ask that they are on leads).
Getting the most out of a trip to the market couldn’t be easier:
Ø Keep an eye out for the parking signage if you’re driving
Ø Bring a shopping bag to carry your goodies
Ø Above all get chatting to the producers for foodie tips
As well as serving suggestions, there is nothing more satisfying as meeting the maker of your food. Let the producers tell you their story and other inside scoops on what’s particularly good this month at the market.
It’s hungry work talking to producers and other foodies, so you’re covered with a range of street food options that include FoodPath Streetfood, Crepe’s 2 Go, The Hatch and The Oyster Catcher. Each serve locally sourced food to enjoy next to Hillsborough Fort with a speciality coffee in hand and local musicians providing the soundtrack.
