July is National Picnic Month

When the Sun comes out during the Summer months, there's something nice about enjoying the great outdoors and spending time together over a picnic. So, as July is National Picnic Month, we've put together a list of places that will inspire you to get your hamper at the ready in Lisburn & Castlereagh!

Wallace Park

Bring along your picnic to Wallace Park.  Located in the heart of Lisburn and covering 25 acres of mature parkland, Wallace Park is ideal for families.  With a state-of-the-art children's play area, picnic tables and a wide variety of tree-lines walkways there is plenty to occupy everyone. 

Moat Park Dundonald

Situated in the heart of Dundonald, the Moat Park offers idyllic walks around the historic Motte as well as provides a valuable link to shops in the village. Moat Park is a green oasis within the expanding townland of Dundonald.  The park has a Wildlife Garden which has been created to attract a greater variety of plants and animals into the park by creating important micro-habitats where they can thrive.

Castle Gardens is the most historically significant open space in Lisburn and was once the site of Lisburn Castle, a 17th century fortified manor house, built by the Conway family - the landlords of Lisburn. Castle Gardens is a green oasis within the heart of Lisburn. The formal gardens are perfect for a relaxing walk or to sit and eat a packed lunch on your lunch break or a picnic with all the family and connect with nature.
